Last Sunday was our final Walk To End Alzheimer’s event of the season (there’s plenty of time to make a tax-deductible donation), which mean that I have my weekends back. Basically. Well, at the very least The Wife and The Kid are in control of them, not The Job. While I really like my job, it’s nice not getting up at 3:30 a.m. to prepare registration materials, you know?
Digressing, the lack of fundraisers meant that I resumed the weekly trip to the Central New York Regional Market to forage for produce. I ended up with less produce than, say, desserts and meat. Mostly, I was chasing herbs for the batch of marinara I was getting ready to work on.
Today’s trip to Wegmans saw the kid charm the hell out of everyone (as she is known to do) and pick up some exciting stuff. All told, Wegmans and the farmer’s market trip will yield:
- Locavore turkey club sandwiches (it will make sense later)
- Spinach, tomato and orzo soup (Meatless Monday)
- Leftover pasta
- Dijon chicken breasts
